The Melbourne Independent Filmmakers Festival began in 1998 when Three Boys, Dr. Terry Cronin, Pat Martin, Bob Lizek and Jeff Hall (I know that’s four, don’t ask), made a short film and entered it into some festivals. After attending the festivals they thought they could do much better, and with the help of ACutAboveVideo and Bill Williams, they did.

The 26th annual Melbourne Independent Filmmakers Festival (MIFF) is a Space Coast short film festival at Premiere Theaters (Oaks-10) in Melbourne Florida. It is open to filmmakers from around the world.  The MIFF has two screening blocks that feature Florida filmmakers: “Florida Made Films” and “Rising Stars” where we focus on young film makers.  Oh, and every penny made from this Central Florida film festival goes to a local charity: No Limits Academy, a non-profit Christian School for physically disabled children ages 6-21.

Film makers who say: “I want to see my film in a movie theater and use the same system as Hollywood films” will have their dreams come true at the MIFF.  You can see your film on the big screen and enjoy eclectic indie films in a movie theater and experience how indie movies look and sound their best.  At the MIFF’s closing night, walk the red carpet and be interviewed live streamed to the theater and recorded for YouTube.

Specially requested independent feature films have been screened at the MIFF such as “Woman in Motion,” “The Martial Arts Kid,” “I’ll Believe You,” and the Bollywood movie “Bang Bang” with Hollywood talent like Patrick Warburton, David Allen Basche, Ed Harris, and Don “The Dragon” Wilson.

The MIFF will create a free DCP needed to show your film at a movie theater.  Be recognized for your independent film, see your film on the BIG screen, and enjoy your fellow film makers’ creative energy you will find at the MIFF!
